BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Religious and Arabic schools are part of the National Education System for the 21st Century, SPN 21. Hence, these schools are urged to improve their excellent achievement record in the Primary School Assessment Examination, PSR. The matter was stated by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs on the side-lines of a visit to two Arabic schools in the Capital yesterday morning.

Yang Berhormat Pehin also expressed his satisfaction on the efforts made by the Islamic Studies Department, together with the Penggerak Unit, Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Education in making the system a success at the national level.

The visit aimed to take a closer look and monitor the admission of New Year 5 students in Arabic schools. This year, 665 female students from Years 5 and 6 are beginning their school session at the Bandar Seri Begawan Arabic Preparatory School. From that number, 283 are New Year 5 students. The school managed to achieve a 100 percent pass rate in last year's Primary School Assessment Examination, PSR.
